The family of the late Stephen “tWitch” Boss is weighing in on his widow Allison Holker’s recently released memoir — and the statement she shared ahead of its release.
“I see no accountability in that statement,” Boss’ brother Drè Rose shared during an interview on CBS Mornings released Tuesday, February 11. “I see no accountability in the fact that the family had to find out about these things in the manner that they did.”
Rose added, “If that is what you want to convey or share to the public, bringing up someone’s journal entry, that’s not how you expose it. It could have been, ‘Hey, this is my experience, and I want to let people know what to look for.’”
Holker’s book, This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light, was released on February 4. Nearly one month prior, 37-year-old Holker appeared on the cover of People magazine, revealing that she had read Boss’ journals following his death.

Boss died by suicide at age 40 in December 2022. Holker revealed in the People interview — and in her book — that he allegedly wrote about struggling with substance abuse and detailed a past sexual assault in the journals. Boss’ family has continued to speak out against Holker since the interview was published on January 7.
Holker addressed the backlash in a statement the following day, which was what Rose was referring to on CBS Mornings.
“To fans of Stephen and our family and friends, I want to be clear that my only intention in writing the book is to share my own story as well as part of my life with Stephen to help other people,” Holker wrote at the time. “Just like you, I never really knew what happened, and even as I am trying to put the pieces together I will never really know.”
She added, “I hope that by sharing our full story maybe I can help someone else who might see themselves or a loved one in Stephen. In sharing I hope that maybe they can catch some of the red flags that I missed before it’s too late.”
Holker married Boss in 2013. They share kids Maddox, 8, and Zaia, 4. (Holker is also the mother to 16-year-old Weslie from a prior relationship, whom Boss raised as his own.)
“My hope is that that we won’t need to lose another husband, brother, father, or friend to suicide,” her statement concluded. “I believe that if Stephen were able to choose, he would choose to have his story told if it meant saving even one life. Much love to all those who have supported our family these many years.”

Rose sat along with Boss’ mother, Connie Boss Alexander, during Tuesday’s interview. They both said that Holker’s claims about Boss’ alleged drug abuse and sexual assault came as a shock.
“To use my brother’s name and make it seem like he had this serious addiction problem, this sexual abuse allegation,” Rose said. “That could have been true, but I don’t think that’s the reason why my brother isn’t here today.”
Holker also released a separate statement in response to the family’s interview.
“Connie has and will continue to be a positive and loving figure in Maddox and Zaia’s lives,” she shared. “From grandparents day at school, to family lunches, ice cream dates and Cameron’s video game meetups with Maddox, we hope to continue these traditions over the years and work together to keep Stephen’s memory alive.”
