A Bangor woman has been sentenced for her role in a Maine drug trafficking ring.
U.S. District Court Judge Stacey Neumann sentenced 29-year-old Shelby Loring to time served and three years of supervised release. Loring was incarcerated for about 32 months, the U.S. attorney’s office said Monday.
Loring and others conspired to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl in Penobscot and Aroostook counties from Massachusetts between January 2018 and December 2021. Loring would acquire drugs from a source and then sell them to customers in both counties. Loring also kept some for her own use, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
The charges stem from a September 2019 stop on Interstate 95 during which Maine state troopers found five pounds of methamphetamine. That stop prompted the investigation into the drug ring that authorities say lasted about four years.
Loring is the 11th person to be sentenced in the case. The following people have been sentenced: Andrew Adams, 32, of Aroostook County will serve 10 years; Matthew Catalano, 38, of Penobscot County will serve more than 13 years; Christopher Coty, 44, of Bangor will serve four years; Blaine Footman, 38, of Bangor will serve five years; Nicole Footman, 41, of Holden will serve three years; Dwight Gary Jr., 54, of Medway was sentenced to time served; Thomas Hammond, 26, of Charleston will serve seven years; James King, 55, of Caribou will serve more than 13 years; Danielle McBreairty, 34, of Glenburn will serve 20 years; and Wayne Smith, 33, of Bangor will serve seven years.
