Beyoncé made sure to find the time to thank younger daughter Rumi after winning big at the 2025 Grammys.

The singer, 43, offered her 6-year-old a sweet shout-out on Sunday, February 2, telling Entertainment Tonight, “Rumi, who’s on the album, our youngest daughter, she’s at home watching and I forgot to thank her so I get to thank her now, thank you Rumi.”

Beyoncé was thrilled that her and Jay-Z’s older child, 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, was there to celebrate her big night. (The couple, who have been married since 2008, also share Rumi’s twin brother Sir, 7.)

“She’s taller than me, I don’t like it at all,” Beyoncé joked. “I’m so happy she was here.”

The awards show on Sunday was a big night for Beyoncé, who took home the trophies for Best Country Album, Album of the Year and Best Country Duo/Group Performance. (Rumi, for her part, made her recording debut on the “Protector” track from the Cowboy Carter album.)

“I really was not expecting this. I want to thank God that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years. I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album, we worked so hard on it,” she said after Taylor Swift gave her the award for Best Country Album. “I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about, and to say, stay persistent.”

Beyoncé’s transition into country music hasn’t been without its challenges. After releasing Cowboy Carter in March 2024, Beyoncé reflected on her experience entering the country music genre as a Black woman.

“I feel honored to be the first Black woman with the number one single on the Hot Country Songs chart,” she wrote via Instagram . “That would not have happened without the outpouring of support from each and every one of you. My hope is that years from now, the mention of an artist’s race, as it relates to releasing genres of music, will be irrelevant.”

The Best and the Worst of the 2025 Grammys

Cowboy Carter debuted to critical and fan praise but some award shows — specifically the CMAs — caught backlash for snubbing Beyoncé’s music. Beyoncé has not yet addressed her country album receiving zero nods at the CMAs but her father, Mathew Knowles, had plenty to say.

“There’s more white people in America and unfortunately they don’t vote based on ability and achievements,” he explained to TMZ in September 2024. “It’s still sometimes a white and Black thing.”

Knowles, 73, said the snub “speaks for itself,” adding, “In America, there’s no accountability for people not being accepting of other cultures.”
