Donald Trump blocked more than 100 refugees from settling in Bangor. Refugees already approved for travel to the U.S., some with years of vetting, had their flights canceled by the president on Jan. 22.
The Trump administration rescinded a federal funding freeze. In a two-sentence memo, the White House withdrew the order, which had caused chaos and confusion around the county on Tuesday.
Maine Veterans’ Homes is finally getting aid that lawmakers approved in 2023. The Mills administration did not say why it took so long to commit the money, but some of it will arrive this week after lawmakers contacted state officials.
A former Maine politician’s law license was suspended for alleged misconduct. The order, written by the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar and approved by a judge, cites 10 violations.
A midcoast town temporarily blocked major commercial development to keep out Dollar General. More than 100 residents packed the local elementary school’s gymnasium to voice support for the measure.
