Cold air returns to Maine on Tuesday, and snow is on the way for Wednesday. An active pattern looks to be taking shape for the end of the week and weekend as well.
Tuesday will have dropping temperatures and blustery winds, but plenty of sun for the afternoon. Temps will fall through the 20s, and wind chills will drop into the single digits.
A round of snow will then move in after midnight Tuesday. Steady snow will continue through Wednesday morning, gradually tapering off through the afternoon.

Snow amounts look fairly light with 1-3 inches for most, though southern Maine likely sees higher totals of 2-4 inches.
Bitter cold is back for Thursday. Highs will only be in the teens with sunny skies and breezy winds.
Our next storm likely arrives Friday afternoon. There is still considerable uncertainty with this forecast, but at this point, it looks like mostly snow, with possibly some rain mixing in across far southern Maine.
Temperatures will be fairly mild Friday in the low 30s, potentially even in the mid-30s in southern Maine depending on storm track.
Cold air is then back for Saturday, with highs near 20 under sunny skies.
Another storm then arrives Sunday evening with the chance for snow in the latter part of the day.
Milder air will gradually move in, so a change to rain or a mix is possible by Monday.
There is still considerable track uncertainty with this storm as well, so stay tuned later this week.
