Rosemont Market & Bakery is closing the doors of its Munjoy Hill location in Portland after 17 years.
Rosemont Market & Bakery at 88 Congress St. on Munjoy Hill will close on Jan. 31. The location had been serving the East End community since 2008.
Rosemont Market said the store’s smaller footprint presented operational challenges that grew increasingly difficult to overcome.
Rosemont Market’s six other locations will remain open and staff at the Munjoy Hill market will be guaranteed positions at other Rosemont locations.
“It has been a pleasure to serve the Munjoy Hill Community over the last 17 years,” said John Naylor, co-founder and owner of Rosemont Market & Bakery. “The support of our customers has meant the world to us. While we worked hard to sustain this location, we’ve ultimately had to make the difficult decision to close. Along with the many customers and other local businesses, being a part of the community in Munjoy Hill has been a rewarding experience. We are grateful for our staff who work tirelessly to provide the community with fresh, locally produced, quality food. We plan to remain connected and are hopeful to find a larger space for a new location on the Peninsula.”
Rosemont Market & Bakery said that it remains dedicated to supporting Maine farmers and producers and providing exceptional food to its customers.
