The president of St. Joseph Healthcare is retiring.
Mary Prybylo has led St. Joseph Healthcare for the past 14 years, and also serves as senior vice president of Covenant Health, the system’s parent company.
She will retire effective May 1, St. Joseph’s announced Friday morning.
The system credited Prybylo for her “exceptional leadership” and for guiding advancements in patient care, particularly for older Mainers, and establishing the Accountable Care Organization, Community Care Partnership of Maine and programs such as Sexual Assault and Forensic Examiner Nursing.
Last year, the Maine Public Health Association bestowed the Phebe Conrey King Access to Healthcare Award in recognition for her role in improving health care accessibility in the state, according to St. Joseph’s.
Prybylo said in a statement that she will stay on as the chief research and innovation officer for St. Joseph’s Accountable Care Organization. She also will be graduating with a Ph.D. in nursing this spring and intends to continue working to improve care for aging patients.
“While bittersweet to be stepping away from the role of President, I am looking forward to pursuing this next chapter of my career and grateful to have the opportunity to remain connected to St. Joe’s through this work,” Prybylo said.
