The Metropolitan Police has passed a full evidence file about a Premier League footballer accused of rape to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
The player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was first arrested in Barnet, north London, in July 2022 over allegations of rape against a woman in her 20s the month before.
While in custody, the man in his 30s was arrested over allegations of raping a different woman in April and June 2021.
The force later said “no further action” would be taken in relation to the June 2021 allegation because the relevant legislation had not yet come into effect at the time it was said to have occurred.

In February 2023, he was interviewed under caution over a sexual offence alleged to have taken place in Barnet in February 2022.
The player remains under police investigation for alleged sexual offences that took place between 2021 and 2023, Scotland Yard said.
A Met spokesperson said its officers “are investigating following a number of reports of alleged sexual offences between 2021 and 2023”.
The force added: “A full file has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service and detectives continue to work with prosecutors.
“Those who have come forward to police continue to receive support from Met officers.”
The player has denied the allegations.
