Teen Actor Hudson Joseph Meek Laid to Rest After Death at 16

Actor Hudson Joseph Meek was laid to rest on Saturday, December 28, one week after he suddenly died at age 16.

Meek’s loved ones reconvened at the Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama, to honor his memory, according to an Instagram live stream of the Celebration of Life service.

Meek, best known for acting roles in 2017’s Baby Driver and recent episodes of MacGyver and Found, died on December 21. He sustained injuries from blunt force trauma earlier that week after falling from a moving vehicle.

“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” a statement shared via Meek’s Instagram page read. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

The message added, “Please pray for Hudson’s family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss.”

Meek is survived by his parents, Lani and Derek, and his older brother, Tucker.

“I’m gonna miss you Hud,” Tucker wrote via Instagram comment at the time. “Love you, bro.” (Tucker also added, “I’ll always miss you Hud,” onto his social media bio.)

According to an obituary for Meek, he “died peacefully” surrounded by family, friends and “the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

“Hudson was an organ donor, and his family is comforted by knowing that he will continue to help others for years to come,” the obituary continued. “Hudson was reflective and thoughtful, however, he was tenacious when he set his mind to something. … Hudson’s personality was one of a kind. He was confident, convicted in his beliefs, spontaneous and quick-witted. He never let the facts get in the way of a funny story, and he loved friendly banter.”

The note added, “He was a prankster, loved a good joke, and was happiest when he was making others laugh. Hudson thrived in settings that allowed him to meet and serve new people. Hudson was a vibrant and dynamic person who lived life to the fullest.”

Meek was a sophomore student at Alabama’s Vestavia Hills High School, where he played for the football team and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Honor Choir and SGA. The obituary also listed his acting credits as part of his extracurricular hobbies.

“He worked on several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which will be released in 2025,” the statement read. “He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew.”

Meek’s representation, J. Pervis Talent Agency, also released a statement on the young performer’s death.

“Hudson was an extraordinary young talent, whose dedication, passion, and promise shone brightly within our industry,” an Instagram post read. “Over the past 10 years, he contributed so much to the spirit of our agency and his loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all of us. Hudson was more than just a talent, he was a source of inspiration and touched so many lives with his enthusiasm, kindness, smile and innate ability to light up a room and never meet a stranger. He will be remembered with great affection by us all.”
