Southern Charm Recap Madison LeCroy Reveals Husband Brett Was Diagnosed With Thyroid Cancer

Madison LeCroy dropped a bombshell about her husband, Brett Randle, and his health during the latest episode of Southern Charm.

“Unfortunately, Brett was diagnosed with thyroid cancer toward the end of last year. Around our one-year wedding anniversary,” Madison, 34, revealed during the Thursday, December 12, episode of the Bravo series, confirming he got sick in fall 2023. “I thought, ‘Like, how? I’m finally happy.’ And it’s just scary.”

The reality star, who married Brett in November 2022, explained that her husband, 38, underwent surgery to remove a “three-centimeter nodule” which eradicated the cancer. However, she said that Brett is “now having complications.”

“I feel like we can’t catch a f—ing break,” Madison confessed.

Fans got a glimpse at Brett’s health complications as he and Madison made pancakes for her son, Hudson, on the show. (Madison shares Hudson, 12, with ex-husband Josh Hughes.)

“How are you feeling Brett?” Madison asked her spouse after he coughed in the kitchen. “Pretty good,” he replied. After Madison inquired about his swallowing, Brett said he needs to see a “specialist” and may have to do therapy to help.

Brett explained that it feels like “a marble stuck” in his throat when he swallows, noting that he’s “getting used to it.” Madison looked concerned, replying, “Well, no, we’ll get you fixed. I’ll kiss and make it better.”

Madison later broke down on camera, talking about how hard Brett’s illness has been on her and her son. “I told Hudson [that] Brett was sick, but I didn’t go into detail about what cancer can do to someone,” she shared. “I try not to let Hudson see me emotional because I have to be strong for my family.”

She confessed, “Some days I just want to scream,” noting that “anything” can trigger her. “Whether that be someone saying, ‘When are you having a child?’” Madison continued, adding, “We were just kinda starting to plan, but that’s on pause for now.”

Ahead of the season 10 premiere, Madison exclusively told Us Weekly that it’s been “an emotional year” for her family, who is grieving the death of her father as well as dealing with Brett’s ups and downs.

“There’s a few bumps in the road, but we come out on top,” she teased earlier this month.

Despite Brett’s health issues, Madison told Us that she is “super happy” and their married life has been “wonderful.”

When it comes to the pair’s family plans, Madison added that Hudson gave her the go ahead to add a baby to the mix. “One day he just put his hand on my shoulder and he goes, ‘Mom, I’m ready.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, you’re ready?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, you can have a baby now,’” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Oh, thank goodness.’ I was like, ‘OK, now I actually can do this.’”

Southern Charm airs on Bravo Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
