A very active few days of weather is expected for Maine. It starts out as snow and ice for Monday night and Tuesday, with a significant storm set to have a major impact on the state Wednesday.

A round of snow is likely from Monday evening to early Tuesday. Two to 4 inches looks likely for most, though there may be some lower totals in York County and along the immediate coast.

Snow will transition to freezing drizzle overnight, and will continue off and on through Tuesday, with temperatures remaining below freezing.

Slick travel and surfaces are likely through the day, with a winter weather advisory in effect until 4 p.m.

Wednesday storm

A potent storm looks to move in Wednesday and has the potential to bring flooding and power outages to the state.

The storm begins Wednesday morning with the worst conditions Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night.

Rain and flooding

One to 3 inches of rain and melting snow will likely lead to some flooding Wednesday evening. Credit: CBS 13

As temperatures will be mild in the 40s and 50s, almost all rain is expected across Maine.

1 to 3 inches of rain on top of plenty of snow in the mountains will likely lead to some areas of flash flooding and river flooding. Road washouts will be a concern as well.

Winds

Winds will likely be quite strong Wednesday evening and night, especially along the coast. Power outages look possible, and may be widespread. Stay tuned as we continue to nail down where the strongest winds will occur and how strong they may get.

Wind and rain wraps up late Wednesday night, and Thursday looks sunny again with gusty winds and temperatures back in the 30s.

Colder but quiet weather sticks around for the end of the week and into the weekend.
