The Days of Our Lives cast can bring the drama — and some serious romance.
For more than 60 seasons, the soap opera has kept viewers on the edge of their seats with dramatic plot twists in the love department.
While some couples face love triangles, allegations of infidelity and even death, the show has still managed to introduce fans to plenty of heartfelt stories worth celebrating.
“Days of Our Lives has always worked at creating a super couple, which is kind of unlike other soaps — now especially,” Wally Kurth exclusively told Us Weekly at Peacock’s “Day of Days” event earlier this month. “They don’t want people to get together. But Days of Our Lives really does honor that.”

Judi Evans added with a laugh, “They put them together, pull them apart. … Throw the person in, throw the person out. But it’s good. They have an accident or tragedy and then you have to get through that too, and it’s long term.”
As the show prepares for a remarkable 61st season, several stars shared the Days of Our Lives couples they can’t help but root for in Salem and beyond. Keep reading to see their picks for who showcases couple goals:
Abigail Klein and Stephen Nichols: Steve and Kayla
When asked to share her favorite couple from the series, Klein immediately looked to her TV dad, Nichols.
“Steve and Kayla, are you kidding?” she told Us. “They’re my goals not only as [my character] Stephanie wants what her parents have, but me, Abigail, as an actress. I want to have that lightning in a bottle costar chemistry with someone. Nobody does it better than they do.”
In response, Nichols simply replied with a laugh: “I have to agree with that.”
Martha Madison: Bo and Hope
“I think we’re both really lucky in that we play the children of the two biggest couples on the show’s history — John and Marlena and Bo and Hope,” Madison shared while standing alongside Brandon Beemer. “I think both of those are great couples to model after.”
If she could only pick one, Madison leaned towards Bo and Hope “because it’s kind of the good girl and the bad boy. It’s always fun to watch.”
Brandon Beemer: Patch and Kayla
“Patch and Kayla are sweet and cute,” Beemer told Us. “There’s some you look at and you go, ‘They don’t cheat. They don’t do anything wrong.’”
Billy Flynn: Doug and Julie
“My couple was Susan [Seaforth Hayes] and her real-life husband, Bill, who played Doug and Julie,” Flynn shared with Us. “It was always an inspiration for my relationship on the show, which I’m biased, but Chad and Abigail, who was sort of this generation’s version of Romeo and Juliet. I think they’re positioning my character and they were positioning Abigail’s character as that.”
Susan Seaforth Hayes: Jack and Jennifer
“I root for Jack and Jennifer,” Hayes shared. “Jennifer is my cousin on the show. Matthew Ashford is one of my favorite actors and I root for them whenever they appear. They played a lot of comedy for years. They’re a different kind of couple. They’re my favorites.”
Judi Evans: Bo and Hope
“Bo and Hope are good couple goals. John and Marlena too,” Evans shared with Us. “We have a lot of people to look up to emulate.”
Wally Kurth: Steve and Kayla
“I kind of like Steve and Kayla. Doug and Julie are sweet,” Kurth explained. “Back in the ‘80s with Soap Opera Digest Awards, they had the super couple of awards. You actually went up there and received the trophy for that.”

Robert Scott Wilson: John and Marlena
“John and Marlena are legends,” Wilson told Us when praising Deidre Hall and the late Drake Hogestyn’s onscreen chemistry. “It’s a forever thing. The original super couple!”
Leo Howard and Ashley Puzemis: Tate and Holly
Both Howard and Puzemis are hopeful their characters Tate and Holly can go the distance in Salem.
“I root for us,” Howard told Us. “We’re biased but we root for them. I like it because it’s very reminiscent of everyone’s first love, and at least for me, that first love is no-holds-barred. There’s no limit on it. The stakes are so high because you have no comparison. I think it’s cool to live out that first kind of obsessive love that I think we’ve all had.”
Puzemis added, “It’s all about making the mistakes in the beginning of the relationship, but we’re both naive, young, figuring it out.”
Cherie Jimenez: Gabi and Stefan
Of all the couples formed in Salem, Jimenez can’t help but root for her onscreen romance with Stefan DiMera (played by Brandon Barash).
“I believe Gabi and Stefan are end game,” she declared to Us. “They have gone through so much that if they make it through this, I believe that they are meant to be. Now, unfortunately, we have gone through a divorce. He cheated on me while I was in prison with the mafia queen, and then I slept with his brother for revenge. … But I’m going to fight for him.”
Al Calderon: Gabi and Stefan
While Calderon admitted he’s a newbie, he can’t help but hope for a reconciliation and reunion between Gabi and Stefan. “The way that you talk about your relationship is honestly — although there are some crazy things, it wouldn’t be Salem without it – I’m rooting for you,” he told Jimenez at Peacock’s “Day of Days” event. “I come in rooting for you. Fight for your man!”
