Jason Kelce is ready to joke about his viral incident at Penn State from earlier this month, when he repeated a homophobic slur in response to a heckler.
Jason, 37, and brother Travis Kelce recapped the 1989 movie Road House during the Tuesday, November 27 episode of their “New Heights” podcast. During their review, the sibling duo praises Patrick Swayze’s character, James Dalton, who has a “controlled demeanor” in Jason and Travis’ eyes.
The film follows Swayze’s James, a bouncer, who gets recruited to become the head of security at a rough dive bar called the Double Deuce. Once he takes the gig, James gives the employees a crash course on how to be a successful bouncer.
“He’s sitting there telling every single guy and every single girl, be nice,” Travis said during his recap. “This is how we’re going to do it. When you kick someone out, you’re nice.”

Then they started quoting the movie.
“What if they call you a name?” Jason asked. Travis replied, “What do you mean, if they call me what?”
Jason added, “If they call you a c—sucker.”
“Well, a c—sucker is just two nouns combined that elicit a prescribed response,” Travis said in response.
“I love that. I probably could have used this advice at Penn State,” Jason quipped. Travis responded, “Dude, I immediately thought of you, and I was not going to bring this up unless you did.”
Jason admitted that when he was watching the movie, he was thinking about himself — and the past incident.
“I was like, ‘God damn it, where was Dalton at Penn State?’” he said.
Jason visited Happy Valley earlier this month for the Penn State football game against Ohio State. Ahead of the matchup, a man wearing a Nittany Lions hockey sweatshirt heckled the retired football star.
The former Philadelphia Eagles center was walking outside of Beaver Stadium when the man — whom Penn State police have still not identified — ran after Jason putting a phone in his face.

“Hey, Kelce. How does it feel your brother’s a f—– dating Taylor Swift?” the man asked, using a homophobic slur and referring to Travis’ relationship. Video footage of the incident showed Jason grabbing the heckler’s phone and smashing it on the ground before yelling the same slur back. (Us Weekly previously confirmed that police were investigating the incident.)
Jason apologized for the incident two days after it happened.
“I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” he said during ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown on November 4. “Within a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I don’t think that’s a productive thing. I don’t think it leads to discourse.”
He continued, “In that moment I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have. Bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rules. That’s what I’ve always been taught. I try to treat people with decency and respect. I’m going to keep doing that moving forward.”
