A one-year-old boy and a woman have died after a crash involving a car and a double-decker school bus.

Police were called to the collision on Meaver Road in the village of Mullion, Cornwall, at 8.40am on Monday.

The woman and the child were travelling in an Vauxhall Astra car involved in the crash and were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The woman, aged in her 30s, died on Thursday, while the boy had been in a serious life-threatening condition.

In an update on Friday, a spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Both have now tragically passed away in hospital. The next of kin is aware.”

Some 27 children on the school bus suffered minor injuries, while another child sustained serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, the police spokesman added.
