Sen. JD Vance was right, we don’t need experts, just “common sense wisdom.” No expert needed to tell us that immigration wasn’t solved with a wall that never got built and the lie that Mexico would pay for it. Common sense tells us that the candidate who torpedoed a bipartisan immigration bill won’t solve immigration — it’s just a talking point, another lie.
Common sense tells us that rounding up immigrants for mass deportation will do nothing but stick taxpayers with hundreds of billions of dollars in debt. And when these folks are gone, who will be left working in agriculture and home construction? Like it or not, they’re a huge part of our labor force.
I think common sense tells us that the only thing Donald Trump will solve as president is reducing the sentence he faces as a convicted felon.
