A Livermore Falls woman convicted of manslaughter following a deadly crash in North Jay in 2022 will spend nearly four years in prison.
Trisha Payeur, 43, was sentenced on Wednesday to 12 years with all but three years and eight months suspended, according to the Sun Journal.
Following her release, Payeur will be on probation for four years.
A sentencing agreement paved the way to Payeur’s admission of guilt through a so-called Alford plea, which enabled her to enter a guilty plea while maintaining her innocence. She had also pleaded guilty to reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, according to the Sun Journal.
The head-on crash killed 69-year-old Gaylene Rich of Livermore.
Rich was driving south on Route 4 on July 20, 2022, when Payeur’s vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, causing a head-on crash, according to police.
Rich died on the way to the hospital.
Payeur was charged in November 2023.
Medical tests showed Payeur had cocaine in her system at the time of the crash, according to the Sun Journal.
A handful of other charges were dismissed as part of the plea deal.
