The event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at noon in Husson’s Gracie Theatre.

BANGOR – Husson University’s Distinguished Business Speaker Series returns for the 2024-25 academic year on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at noon with President Lynne Coy-Ogan in conversation with Dean Marie Hansen.

The Distinguished Business Speaker Series, launched in September 2021, highlights successful business leaders to educate students, alumni and community members on the challenges facing businesses and organizations. This is the first of four speaker events in the series planned for the academic year.

“President Coy-Ogan is a remarkable leader who is blazing a new trail at Husson as our seventh president and first female CEO. We are thrilled to recognize her exceptional experience as part of the Distinguished Business Speaker Series and excited for what the audience can learn from her,” Dean Hansen said.

President Coy-Ogan became the university’s leader on July 1, after being unanimously selected for the role by both the presidential hiring committee and the Husson Board of Trustees. She has served in leadership positions at Husson for nearly 20 years, first as dean of the School of Education and most recently as senior vice president for Academic Affairs and Provost.

She has served on numerous state task forces for issues related to leadership, curriculum reform and assessment practices. She has chaired and participated on accreditation teams for New England Commission of Higher Education and program reviews for the Maine Department of Education throughout Maine, New England, Europe and the Middle East.

The event, scheduled for 12 p.m. at The Gracie Theatre on Husson’s campus on Wednesday, Oct. 2 is free and open to the public. To register for the event, please visit https://fundraise.givesmart.com/form/16Bluw?vid=17m368.

The series is sponsored by MMG Insurance Company, a regional property and casualty insurance company with operations in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, and Virginia with headquarters in Presque Isle. With roots dating back to 1897, MMG has earned consistent regional and national recognition for superior service, ease of doing business, and as a best place to work. Today, the company writes in excess of $250 million in premiums in partnership with more than 220 Independent Agencies across more than 580 locations.
