Maine State Police on Sunday identified the woman who was killed in a five-car crash on Interstate 95 in Augusta on Friday afternoon.
The crash happened at about 3:09 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 where traffic was stopped for construction. A driver in a 2019 Ford pickup truck rear-ended a 2024 SUV on I-95 south near exit 113, leading to a five-vehicle crash.
The female passenger in the Toyota SUV, 68-year-old Sari Ohmart, of Brewer, was pronounced dead at the scene along with a dog that was in the car, according to police. Her husband, 70-year-old Leslie Ohmart, who was driving the car, was brought to Maine General Hospital in Augusta with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford pickup truck, 28-year-old Robin Carter, of Limerick, was also brought to Maine General with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Police said other injuries in the five-vehicle crash were not life-threatening.
Traffic was detoured around the crash scene until 5:50 p.m. when the lanes reopened.
