A New York man faces a slew of charges after he allegedly led police on a chase and put up “great resistance” during his arrest.
Francis Olukogbon, 36, of Uniondale, New York, was charged with driving to endanger, failure to stop for an officer, assault on an officer, three counts of refusing to submit to arrest, unlawful drug trafficking, unlawful possession of drugs and falsifying physical evidence, according to Brad Nadeau, a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.
A Portland police officer attempted to stop Olukogbon on Franklin Street, near Fox Street, about 2:36 a.m. after he allegedly didn’t stop for several blinking red lights. Olukogbon allegedly didn’t stop despite the officer activating the cruiser’s lights and siren.
Olukogbon finally pulled over on Everett Street, where he became “very combative” with officers and fled, leading officers on a brief foot chase, Nadeau said Monday.
He was eventually arrested, but not after putting up “great resistance,” according to Nadeau.
Officers allegedly found Olukogbon in possession of 2.34 grams of cocaine and 0.62 grams of methamphetamine.
Olukogbon was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
