Rod Stewart has denied reports he and his wife Penny Lancaster are facing “disharmony” in their marriage, telling fans they “could not be more in love with each other”.

The 79-year-old rock star shared a black-and-white statement on Instagram, which he said was intended to “put the record straight”.

The Do Ya Think I’m Sexy singer said he was countering earlier tabloid reports that the couple were arguing over leaving the US and returning to live in the UK.

Stewart, who recently extended his Las Vegas residency into 2025, wrote: “There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I and no disagreement over where we should reside, in fact it’s the opposite.

“We moved permanently back to our beloved Britain a year ago but are fortunate to also have homes in different countries, which we love to visit.

“Originally we did think it made sense to sell our house in LA, but having spent a wonderful time there this summer with family and friends during my Vegas residency we realised that it makes sense to keep our house there.”

Stewart, who has eight children, said two of his eldest offspring still live in Celtic House, which is their home in LA.

On 7 August he also had to call off what would have been the 200th performance of his Las Vegas residency due to “strep throat”.

His residency – titled The Hits – performs at the famous Caesars Palace hotel and casino and has been extended to run into March, May and June next year.

Stewart was knighted at Buckingham Palace in 2016, for his services to music and charity.
