A man died after he fell from a boat off South Harpswell Friday.
According to a statement from the Maine Department of Marine Resources, Samuel Sharpe, 23, of Harspwell was operating a 19-foot center console boat when he fell into the water. Officials believe he struck the boat’s propeller in the fall.
Witnesses pulled Sharpe out of the water but were unsuccessful in resuscitating him. His body was taken to a local funeral home and is pending examination from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
