RippleX, the development arm of Ripple, has presented a new project within the XRP Ledger ecosystem called Filedgr. It utilizes the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to provide advanced data authentication and management solutions, particularly aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) systems. The project was featured in a blog post on RippleX’s XRPL blog under the series “Developer Reflections,” which presents innovative projects within the ecosystem.

Filedgr’s platform is built to empower users with Web3 technologies, ensuring secure data control and transparency. The blog post states, “Filedgr stands out by offering unique features like Digital Certificates and the Digital Twin Data Hub, revolutionizing industries with authenticated data and fostering trust in product information.”

The integration of Filedgr leverages the XRPL’s capabilities for managing extensive data transactions efficiently. XRPL is known for its high transaction speeds and low fees, which are critical in handling the large volumes of data associated with product lifecycle information.

“The promise of Web3 is a decentralized internet where users have greater control over their data and digital assets. Filedgr harnesses the power of Web3, using blockchain technology to ensure secure and transparent data storage and transfer,” the blog post states.

Filedgr’s Digital Certificates feature utilizes smart NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) to authenticate and securely manage physical objects and their related data. This ensures that the authenticity and integrity of data are maintained from its point of creation through its lifecycle. The Digital Twin Data Hub, another feature, acts as a secure repository for managing digital assets. It provides advanced notarization and live data capture capabilities that facilitate informed decision-making based on real-time data.

As the Ripple blog notes, “Data authentication is critical in bolstering trust in AI systems. Filedgr looks to ensure data integrity through robust authentication processes, enhancing user confidence in AI-driven insights. This authentication not only safeguards against tampering but also builds a transparent and accountable AI ecosystem.”

Technologically, Filedgr is powered by an IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) fork that includes modifications for access control and increased data redundancy suitable for enterprise applications. Data redundancy in Filedgr is managed through a Java sidecar application, utilizing the Zookeeper framework to ensure data is always accessible and reliable.

Furthermore, access control within Filedgr is implemented via token gating, where digital certificates are hosted as Single Page Applications (SPAs) on a Private IPFS Cluster, securing and gating access to data effectively.

Looking to the future, Filedgr plans to transition into a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), which the Ripple blog post describes as promoting “transparency and community-driven governance.” The Filedgr Foundation is set to oversee this transition, ensuring the organization operates efficiently. Additionally, Filedgr is exploring the development of industry-specific spin-offs, tailoring its technology to cater to various sectors such as farming and mobility.

At press time, XRP traded at $0.6033.
