The man and woman killed in a Monday car crash died after their second police chase in two days.

Noah Mushero, 39, of Bangor and Sheena Soctomah-Rolfe, 39, of Orono died in a crash on Finson Road following a chase by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office on Monday morning.

An officer with the Bangor Police Department had a “brief pursuit” of Mushero and Soctomah-Rolfe around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sgt. Jason McAmbley said. They were driving the same car from Monday’s crash.

The officer recognized Mushero and Soctomah-Rolfe and verified Soctomah-Rolfe had a warrant for her arrest for alleged drug trafficking, McAmbley said. Mushero was on probation and one of his conditions was that he was not supposed to have contact with Soctomah-Rolfe.

There were no open criminal cases for Mushero or Soctomah-Rolfe when a Bangor Daily News reporter checked Tuesday morning at the Penobscot County Judicial Center. A court clerk said there was no public warrant for Soctomah-Rolfe in the state-wide system. McAmbley said he did not know where the warrant was from.

On Monday, a sheriff’s deputy chased Mushero and Soctomah-Rolfe, before their speeding vehicle left the road and hit a tree around 9:30 a.m. Their deaths were unattended, McAmbley said.

The Bangor Police Department is investigating the crash on behalf of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. Maine State Police is providing crash reconstruction for the investigation.
