As most Americans, I was dismayed at our president’s appearance at the debate. I think he clearly is not up for the job of governing, let alone campaigning for the White House. I was disappointed when I read top Democrats’ statements, including the Maine Democratic Party, on the subject. I think they are trying to gaslight us into thinking Joe Biden is OK when we saw with our own eyes that he is not. It’s an offensive tone and approach to the voters that they need to win.
One of our leaders took a different, more realistic tone: Rep. Jared Golden. I have not voted for him in the past, but I am considering casting my ballot for him after his realistic and nuanced acknowledgement that Biden’s fate is decided, Donald Trump is going to win and that we will survive. He said what many of us here in rural Maine are thinking. Golden is on his way to earning my vote.
