The UK is set for a weekend washout – with sport fans, concertgoers and commuters facing heavy rainfall and possible flooding.

Punters at summer events including Wimbledon, the Henley Regatta, the British Grand Prix and concerts in Hyde Park were also forced to grab their umbrellas as they faced downpours on Friday night and Saturday morning.

Rain has caused issues for players in SW19 as well as fans, with the wet weather causing persistent delays to matches on outdoor courts during the first week of the tennis championship.

Meanwhile, fans of Andrea Bocelli and Katherine Jenkins were soaked as they watched the classical music stars perform in Hyde Park last night.

Golders Green Underground station was forced to close on Friday evening because to flooding.

Scotland woke up to difficult conditions this morning after a severe yellow weather warning was in place overnight, with up to 50mm of rain predicted in a 12-hour period.

Several flood alerts are also in place across Scotland and England.

On Sunday, showers will be widespread – with heavy rain and thunder expected in southern Scotland, northern England and east Wales.

Rain will also feature on Monday, with showery conditions and clouds moving north on Tuesday.
