A Casco man died shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday when he failed to negotiate a curve and his vehicle crashed into the woods.
Robert Stitham, 38, was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche when he narrowly missed hitting another motorist, then crashed in the woods on Poland Spring Road in Casco, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said Stitham was wearing seat belts, but speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
Naples Fire Department and Casco Fire Department assisted at the scene.
