A Raymond man was allegedly “highly intoxicated” Wednesday when police say he hit two vehicles and caused a chain-reaction crash.

Robert Pulieris, 74, was charged with operating under the influence of intoxicants, operating after suspension and reckless conduct, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Pulieris was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer south on Webbs Mill Road when he allegedly rear-ended a 2021 Subaru Forester driven by 31-year-old Dylan Blackman of Raymond. Pulieris then struck the Subaru a second time before leaving the scene, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday night.

Blackman pulled into the Good Life Market parking lot. Neither Blackman nor his family were injured.

As Pulieris approached the intersection of Webbs Mill Road and Route 302, he struck a 2010 Mazda sedan driven by 29-year-old Thomas Windsor of Raymond, according to the sheriff’s office.

The impact sent the Mazda crashing into the rear of a 2023 Volkswagen sedan driven by 53-year-old Michael Binnette of Paris, whose vehicle was forced into the rear of a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 22-year-old Mark Winter of Raymond.

The Mazda was totaled, while the Volkswagen sustained disabling damage. The crash caused minor damage to the Silverado.

Windsor suffered minor injuries, while Binnette and Winter weren’t injured.

Pulieris was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of minor injuries.

At the time of the crash Pulieris was “highly intoxicated,” according to the sheriff’s office.
