Temperatures are already climbing as the unofficial start of summer approaches.

Temperatures across Maine are expected to range from the high 70s through the high 80s mid-week, with scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

The Bangor region can expect partly cloudy skies to move in Monday night, with an overnight low of 51 degrees accompanied by a slight wind. Heading into Tuesday, highs are expected to climb into the high 70s, before winds up to 20 miles per hour move in.

Moving into Wednesday, the Bangor region will likely see some scattered showers through the morning, with daytime highs reaching around 87 degrees, with little breeze.

The chance for showers persists through Wednesday evening, as the temperature dips to low 60s, leading to a chance for thunderstorms on Thursday. Thursday will likely be muggy, as the storm front moves in, with highs in the mid-80’s and wind gusts reaching up to 22 mph, according to forecasters.

The Bangor area is predicted to see a calmer weekend, ahead of the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, with temperatures in the mid-70s.

Looking north, spring showers are in store for the Caribou  region. Starting Monday night, isolated showers are expected to move in as overnight temperatures dip to the high 50s.

Heading into Tuesday, skies will be unsettled throughout the day as temps reach around 80 degrees, with the chance for thunderstorms in the evening, according to the Caribou NWS office. Wednesday will likely bring similar weather, with an expected high in the low 80s and a chance for thunderstorms in the evening.

The end of the week will likely be damp in The County, with scattered showers expected Thursday through Sunday. Temperatures will be in the high 70s and low 80s, with a light breeze throughout the end of the week.

Near Portland, Tuesday is expected to bring mostly sunny skies with daytime temperatures reaching the high 60s. The region will likely escape the rain expected throughout the northern regions of the state, and skies will remain fair through the end of the week.

Tuesday will bring a high of 77 degrees to the Portland region, although it will be accompanied by wind gusts reaching up to 20 mph. Some showers could move in throughout Wednesday evening, clearing through Thursday morning and ushering in high temperatures in the high 70s.

Expect temperatures in the mid-60s through the Portland region this weekend.

Down East Maine will likely see unsettled skies throughout the middle of the week, although temperatures will likely climb to the high 70s. Showers are likely through the evening Tuesday, as well as Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

Overnight temperatures will likely be in the mid-50s, with daytime temperatures reaching the high 60s through the weekend.
